hot nows - mens
the ask
In my time as an intern for the menswear team at Fashion Snoops, one of my weekly tasks was to create short stories about what was ‘hot’. This varied between runway shows, collaborations, and product trends.
the process
Each week I would spend time on various publications like High Snobbery, Fucking Young!, MR Mag, and Hypebeast to conduct a ‘pulse check’ on the current market. Often times if I saw something before it was time to create a post I would save it on Instagram or bookmark it so that I could reference it later.
Once I found a story that I was interested in, I would look for stories about it on other outlets so that I was able to find more research and understand the story better.
Once I felt satisfied with the story I had written, it would be sent to my boss for editing. Following approval of the write-up, I would create an icon for the site posting using Photoshop and was gather images to create a collage. Both of these assets would be posted in my story.
I would then access the Fashion Snoops backend site and create my posting, as well as create a PDF for our clients.
The outcome
This weekly ritual became a way for me to stay up-to-date on the latest happenings, which often benefitted me in my everyday and academic life. As a fashion student, remaining current on fashion news is a must and it frequently inspired the work that I was creating outside of my internship.
This was also my first exercise in B2B writing, which I found that I had a knack for. I had never considered myself a great writer before starting this internship, but overwhelmingly positive feedback from both my boss and the department supervisor told me that I had discovered a new strength.
Outside of the positive feedback I was getting, my Hot Nows were frequently posted in the weekly newsletter, highlighting the top and most-important stories of the week. Additionally, multiple of my post were sent out in the seasonal overview - which was delivered to our clients.
